“We’re high on the adrenaline of feeling,
even though we know it’s fleeting and evanescent.
And we’re getting worse — checking texts and emails and Facebook
every five minutes, always searching for
that next hit of feeling, that next morsel of approval.”
– Deborah Meyler
Our purpose is to please God, not people.
He alone examines the motives of our hearts.
1 Thessalonians 2:4
When we look solely to people for love and affirmation,
eventually we will be disappointed.
Only Jesus loves us with a perfect, unconditional love.
Our Lord created us in love, and His plans for us are good.
Think of a potter making a beautiful vessel.
The potter created it, has a purpose for it,
and feels proud of it because it is the work of his hands.
Then he makes another pot.
Imagine the second pot depending solely on the first
for love and affirmation.
They are of the same clay and have the same limitations.
They can’t give each other everything they need.
Only the potter can do that. Think on this.
Yet you, LORD, are our Father.
We are the clay, You are the potter;
we are all the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64 v 8
